A historic first, Tunisia has just been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and through his famous Quartet composed of the UGTT (trade union federation), UTICA (Central employer), the Council of the Bar Association and of the Tunisian League of Human Rights.
The official announcement was made a few minutes ago in Friday, October 9, 2015 in Oslo. According to the committee, the quartet is rewarded for his "decisive contribution to building a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia after the Jasmine Revolution in 2011".
Several personalities were approached to get the Nobel Peace Prize in 2015 along the lines of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Pope Francis.
