Global food prices rose slightly in September, after falling in August, but still much lower than the levels recorded in the same period last year, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization reported (FAO).
Scored FAO food price index, which measures monthly changes for a basket of cereals, oilseeds, dairy, meat and sugar, 156.3 points on average in September, an increase of one point over August.
It said the United Nations agency said the index declining 18.9% from the level recorded a year ago.
FAO has cut its forecast for world cereal production in 2015 to 2.534 billion tonnes, compared to 2.54 billion tons in the previous estimate.
